The PebbleTec Finish Installation Process
Your PebbleTec pool finish will be expertly applied only by a PTI educated, authorized installer who will provide you with the most robust installation workmanship warranty in the industry. Click the bullet points for details.
• Mixing the batch formula
Mixing the batch formula
Our unique stone blends are mixed with cement, water, pigment and proprietary additives to create your interior pool finish. PebbleTec authorized installers follow a specific formula to produce a well-blended material ready for installation.
• Smooth spray application
Smooth spray application
The mixed material is then pumped through a hose, and pneumatically applied with a sprayer that is specifically designed to provide even coverage of the finish material in your pool.
• Hand troweling
Hand troweling
Immediately following the spray application, your expert installer hand-trowels the material to create a more compacted surface in preparation for exposure. Often, the applicators wear special shoes with spikes to protect the finish.
• Exposing the finish
Exposing the finish
After the product has been troweled, and depending on the finish, the pool is sprayed or wiped with water to expose the pebbles and/or glass beads, and to remove excess cement.
• Detailing the finish
Detailing the finish
After a hardening period, your PebbleTec pool finish will be pressure washed and detailed using a special acid solution to remove any residue or film. For certain finishes, the surface is also lightly buffed during the cleansing treatment to polish the stones. These treatments enhance the natural beauty of the finish.
• Completion
Completion
Once your pebble pool finish installation process is complete, fill the pool with water, reference your pool care instructions, balance the chemicals and begin swimming!

TNT Group, Dallas TX
"We joined as a PTI installer in 2019, and that move has made a dramatic difference for us: From the careful sourcing of rock, screening of the materials, selection of colors that complement these rocks, they just make a more complete product. From the mines to design, it seems every step has been thoroughly thought through."

Pool Building Process FAQs
What's the difference between a Certified Builder and an Authorized Installer?
A: Certified Builders and Elite Builders are recommended for new pool builds or complex remodels that involve structural work, and they always use PebbleTec finishes for their aggregate pools. Authorized Installers are the right choice for simpler projects that primarily involve applying a new pool finish to an existing pool.
How do I find a qualified pool builder or installer near me?
A: PebbleTec’s Find a Builder tool lets you search by location to connect with Certified Builders, Elite Builders and Authorized Installers in your area. Only these professionals are trained and authorized to apply genuine PebbleTec finishes.
What happens after I choose a pool finish and color?
A: Once you’ve chosen a finish and color, your builder or installer will handle surface preparation, application and curing. PebbleTec provides technical guidance and support throughout the process to help ensure the finish is installed correctly and performs as expected.
Where do I buy a PebbleTec pool finish?
A: PebbleTec pool finishes aren’t sold directly to homeowners. They’re purchased and applied by trained Certified Builders, Elite Builders and Authorized Installers as part of a new pool build or remodel. Use PebbleTec’s Find a Builder tool to locate pool builders and installers near you.
What does the pool building process involve?
A: Building a pool with a PebbleTec finish typically moves through design, excavation and structural work before the finish is applied near the end of the project. Your builder will walk you through each stage, including start-up and curing once the pool is filled.
