Joël-Eric Mignault, the founder of Jem Arte & Agua, is the first designer, consultant and aquatic builder from Quebec to graduate as SWD & IWI from the prestigious Genesis III & Watershape Universities. Throughout his 33-year career, he has designed and/or built more than 500 aquatic projects ranging from spas and prestigious residential pools to Nordic spas, hotels, indoor surfing, wave pool and indoor aquatic centers.

We were lucky enough to catch up with Joël to learn about one of his latest design projects which included PebbleSheen Blue Surf and Lightstreams Glass Tile in Steel Blue. Read the full interview and view the project video below.

PTI: Joel, what caused you to choose Lightstreams for your project?

JEM: “Lightstreams Tile is absolutely unique, as simple as that. I wanted a very distinctive, exclusive tile for my design that would fit with my other exclusive products. That’s why we choose Lightstreams Glass Tile.”

PTI: How did you start this project and where was it located?

JEM: “This pool project was a total remodel and redesign, located in Westmount Montreal Quebec. The challenge was that we built it during winter and during Covid!”

PTI: Were you using a PebbleTec finish and if so, what kind did you use?

JEM: “We used a Pebblesheen finish in Blue Surf for this pool. We’ve been using PebbleTec for years because we think that it’s hands-down the best cementitious product on the market.”
